Senior Information Security Compliance Analyst

Description:

Performs a wide range of professional duties to ensure all best practices related to information security and data privacy are followed at Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS); conducts deep-dive assessments related to information security compliance, such as FERPA and HIPAA, across multiple systems and processes; recommends and monitors improvements; prepares audit and assessment reports; advises and trains FCPS staff on standards, laws, policies, regulations, processes, and best practices as it applies to the management of electronic information and data privacy.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information security, or a related field.
  • Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience information technology and/or cybersecurity, some of which shall have been in a lead capacity in information security or a related field.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) to be obtained within one year of hire.
  • May be required to work evening and/or night shifts on a regular or rotating basis, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of theories, procedures, practices, materials, and methods related to cybersecurity compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal privacy laws and regulations. Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and PCI-DSS compliance frameworks.
  • Skill in analytics and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in data compilation, analysis, and reporting. Organizational skills and detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to present information and/or deliver training to groups. Ability to create standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive user data and information.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
