Overview: Staffing Pros, a division of VETS Inc., is recruiting a Network Engineer in Ashburn, VA. Responsibilities: The Network Administrator serves as the highest level of support within the technical support team. Technical issues that cannot be resolved by tier I and tier II are escalated to this position. This role requires advanced expertise in troubleshooting difficult networking, system and end user issues. Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining network systemsMaintains layer 2 network equipment in accordance with established IT policies and procedures on Cisco and Dell equipmentMaintains layer 3 network equipment in accordance with established IT policies and procedures on Cisco, Dell and FortinetEnsures network integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions for Network DevicesUses network management tools to monitor and tune the network and to discover and solve network issues (PRTG/LOGIC MONITOR MONITORING SYSTEM)Conducts routine network hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established policies and configuration guidelinesUpdates network documentationImplements various minor projects that enhance network availability, security and data integrityTroubleshoots problems with network outages, peripherals, software applications and operating systems within established standards and guidelinesEnsures the availability of applications that require network servicesWorks with vendor engineers and technicians to resolve technical network problemsAssists in maintaining LAN/WAN computer connectivity throughout the networkDevelops processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network environmentAssesses functional needs to determine IT purchase requirementsCollaborates with faculty, staff and other IT groups in order to support the overall goals of the organizationAttends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksiteCompletes all required training and professional development sessionsMaintain equipment located in an Ashburn DatacenterNetwork documentation updates, including network diagramming with Visio, Gliffy, et al.Working knowledge of VoIP and SIPAssesses functional needs to determine IT purchase requirementsCompletes all required training and professional development sessionsExperience with equipment hands-on in a datacenter environment. .
