We are seeking an HVAC Apprentice Mechanic (Union) to join our federal team based at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds (military experience not required). At Johnson Controls, we support our nation's most critical facilities, the people who occupy them, and the missions they enable. Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize US military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure. Union: Local 486 or Local 602 As an Apprentice Mechanic , you will:Primarily perform HVAC mechanical equipment service support, some electrical and controls work, and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the EmployerAssists Journeyman Mechanics with more complex problemsSupport preventative maintenance duties on a variety of different types of HVAC equipmentTroubleshoots and resolves problemsResponds to basic warranty callsKeeps Managers, Foreman, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentAbility to perform general building maintenanceSelf starter with ability to work independentlyValid driver's licenseAbility to supplement on-the-job training with training provided through the apprenticeship programGood verbal and written communication skillsMust be willing to join local unionThe ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances and any other worksite specific badges. (This will involve a background/character, work experience, education, financial/credit and a criminal history records check).
