Internal Medicine Physician - Academics Job with Bayhealth in Dover, DE Bayhealth Medical Center, based in Dover DE, is seeking a dynamic Internal Medicine Physician to lead our future Transitional Year Program (anticipated start date of July 1, 2024) and be an Associate Program Director in our Internal Medicine Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to have input and make an impact building the program from the ground up. This position requires an MD/DO with board certification in internal medicine and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience. Experience in conducting clinical research and the ability to help mentor residents on research projects is preferred. The TY Program Director will potentially devote .3 FTE to the TY PD role, .3 FTE to the Internal Medicine APD role and .4 FTE to clinical practice. Our community is growing, and as community partners, Bayhealth must assure the future healthcare needs of this area are met. This need resulted in a strategic plan to grow the healthcare providers of tomorrow here, in our very own community, by creating GME programs. Bayhealth began our initial GME programs, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine, on July 1, 2021. Our inaugural programs will be followed by General Surgery in July of 2022, Emergency Medicine in July 2023 (pending accreditation) and a Transitional Year Program potentially slated for July 2024. Bayhealth Medical Center is a fully integrated health care system consisting of two hospitals (Bayhealth Kent and Sussex campuses), a free-standing ED in Smyrna and numerous ambulatory and outpatient offices. Both hospitals are certified Primary Stroke Centers. There is 24/7 Hospitalist coverage at both hospitals, as well as Intensivists in the ICUs. Dover DE is a lovely community located less than two hours from Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia. The central/southern Delaware area offers affordable living, history and charm. Easy access to both the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays provides limitless recreational opportunities and the Atlantic Ocean is less than a forty-five-minute drive from Dover.
