Job Description Lead QC Inspector for Asphalt Operations is assigned project wide, to coordinate quality matters with asphalt operations, holding accountability for testing and inspections caring for documents and test samples. Global asphalt activities are tracked by smartsheet, scheduled by the FAM construction team, with installation and testing being handled by subcontractors. The goal of the Lead QC Inspector is to implement strategies that will assist in achieving zero deficiency, safe, and on time production of the Facility with fully complete, required, and up-to-date documentation. The Lead QC Inspectors work directly for the Quality Control Manager. Responsibilities: Assists with the overall Quality plan implementation for asphalt operations. Conducts field quality control oversite, investigation, and documentation. Manages coordination, sampling, and documentation of randomized full depth base asphalt verifications. Gathers, reviews, stores and is a resource to provide records to stakeholders as requested. Assists with the disposition of asphalt non-conformities through investigation and providing precise facts. Holding responsible parties accountable to specs and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed. Assists with distribution and accountability to relevant Plans and Specifications to FAM and Subcontractors. Verifies that the quality related site activities are in accordance with the applicable codes and standards. Attends virtual and in-person meetings both in the office and in the field as required. Assists to hold the segment inspection team accountable to requirements and results. Assists with Punch List walkthroughs for roadway operations as needed. Willing to make hard decisions and call management as needed to enforce proper actions. Qualifications, Desired Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction science, or equivalent considered valuable Minimum of five (5) years of experience of progressive responsibility on similar construction projects. Experience on large highway, bridge/structures, paving, and/or utility relocation projects as a contractor. VDOT Asphalt Certifications, OSHA, Wassel Certifications considered valuable & required for this position. Knowledge of quality reporting procedures with use of quality forms and checklists. Excellent communication, coordination skills, and working within a team environment to accomplish goals. Familiar with ISO 9001 Concepts
