The Role The Operations Technician III - Federal OSP Fiber Maintenance provides oversight and guidance ensuring maintenance related activities are accomplished to program and industry standards. (Active TS/SCI with Poly required) The Main Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities: * Lead all aspects of OSP maintenance and splicing * Develop preventive maintenance and restoration procedures for OSP facilities * Splice and test fiber optic cable in a field environment * Communicate verbally with construction subcontractors regarding proper procedures for placement of outside cable plant * Interface with OSP engineers to determine best course of action for repairs * Install racks and Fiber Distribution Panels (FDPs) * Terminate fiber optic cables * Read and interpret Method of Procedures (MOPs), OSP drawings, and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) traces * Schedule installers * Manually uncover manhole/handhole using hand tools * Splice and test fiber * Communicate with OSP contractors * Quality check the work performed by installers, and correct errors and omissions What We Look For in a Candidate Provide functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, quality assurance/control to technicians Education and Experience: * Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience * Seven or more years applicable work experience * Some local travel required Security Requirements: * US Citizenship required * Active TS/SCI with Poly * Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation) What to Expect Next Based on your job application information you may be given the opportunity to complete a video interview immediately after applying.
