Then consider working for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).The Fredericksburg District is seeking a Pavement Manager to provide technical expertise in overseeing district's pavement management program to include pavement evaluation, preventive maintenance, maintenance repair, refurbishing, and replacement scheduling and estimating. Provide leadership, coordination and support to the Pavement Program.Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:Directing and overseeing the District's Pavement Management Program. Monitoring pavement conditions and developing optimized preservation and rehabilitation plans. Developing estimates and cost-effective strategies to rehabilitate, preserve and extend the life of the district pavement network. Preparing and implementing yearly paving schedules. Maintaining and updating pavement management database systems. Collaborating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on pavement management issues and procedures.Planning, executing and monitoring pavement restoration and rehabilitation program. Assessing and evaluating residency pavement needs. Developing scope, specifications and designs for pavement rehabilitation projects. Collaborating and coordinating with others to prepare annual paving schedule. Documenting paving schedules for federally funded projects. Preparing progress reports on pavement conditions and funding strategies to facilitate pavement management decisions.Evaluating and designing pavement construction. Investigating, verifying and analyzing pavement conditions. Researching pavement construction and maintenance histories. Performing pavement design and life-cycle cost analyses. For more information, please visit "Information for VDOT Employees and Applicants"A' Click Here.In addition to a rewarding work experience, VDOT offers excellent health and life insurance benefits, pre-tax spending accounts, state funded Short and Long Term Disability, paid holidays, vacation, tuition assistance, free wellness programs, and a state retirement plan with options for tax-deferred retirement savings including employer matching.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of pavement construction, maintenance and rehabilitation design, materials, and methods..Knowledge of pavement engineering, design and construction principles, specifications, and methods.Knowledge of soil mechanics, materials properties, materials testing procedures and evaluation methods.The ability to develop and administer contracts.The ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.The ability to obtain certifications in asphalt, soils, aggregates, concrete, nuclear safety and transportation, guardrail installation, and pavement markings within reasonable period of employment.The ability to develop project schedules and cost estimates.The ability to perform engineering and statistical analyses, research, and evaluation.Skilled in the use of computers and software applications to include database management.Valid driver's license.Preferred QualificationExperience in pavement design, construction, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation.Experience is the use of an optimized Pavement Management Software.Experience in project estimating and scheduling.Experience in contract administration.A college degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent experience or training.Possession of certifications in asphalt, soils, surface treatment, slurry seal/micro surfacing aggregates, concrete, Full Depth Reclamation, Cold In-Place Recycling/Cold Central Plant Recycling, nuclear safety and transportation, guardrail installation, and pavement markings.EIT or PE preferred.Special Requirements:Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
