As a Senior Accountant with VersaTech you are a team player with the desire to be a long-term contributor to the growth of the accounting teams and organization overall towards delivering excellence in our Accounting Department. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting. This position is located in Savage, Maryland at VersaTech Headquarters.In this role, we look to you for your knowledge in payroll as you prepare and process semi-monthly employee payroll in ADP Workforce. You will troubleshoot and respond to questions from employees regarding problems with paychecks, tax deductions, timecard issues, and other payroll-related matters and respond accordingly to inquiries. You will research and resolve AP invoices for timely and accurate payments, maintain all W-9 reporting for vendors and file 1099 requirements and assist the month-end and year-end close processes with the Director of Finance and Accounting. Successful candidates will have previous corporate or government payroll experiences with an intrinsic desire to be a part of a successful financial division.Other duties may include:Preparing schedules, monthly closing journal entries, and account reconciliation.Ensure all invoices and employee reimbursement requests are received, coded, approved, and entered in the general ledger promptly and accurately.Record and file the company sales tax. Review and issue annual W2 forms.Ensures accuracy and timely communication of cash position updates to the Director of Finance and Accounting.Analyzing actuals compared to Plan, Forecast, and prior periods including flux explanations.Creating accounting schedules and other reports needed in accounting and other departments.Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.Preparation of year-end audit work papers and assist in coordination with auditors.Assist with year-end reporting and tax package requirements.Required:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance requiredA minimum of 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, with a preference for recent Government Contracting experiencesUnderstanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC reporting requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirementsRecent experiences with Payroll processing, with a preference to those who are familiar with ADP WorkforceRecent experiences with Government Accounting SystemsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peer groups and executive-level managementExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and external auditorsVersaTech offers an excellent benefits package that includes 401k employer-matching retirement contributions, generous paid time off (3 weeks PTO plus 11 holidays), an annual training and professional development allowance, and ample growth opportunities.All VersaTech, Inc. employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19VersaTech is an Equal Opportunity Employer, Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled
