The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure stream faculty position as an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar trained in the social science and humanities disciplines or interdisciplinary programs. We are interested in scholars whose research includes at least one of these areas: law and society, immigration, environmental studies and justice, politics and activism, carcerality and abolition, racial and social inequalities, anti-Asian racism and violence, indigeneity, gender and sexuality, mental health and well-being, or alternative modes of care and healing. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and multiple publics. The Illinois College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is a world leader in research, teaching, and public engagement. Ph.D. in the social sciences, humanities, interdisciplinary, or other related fields to Asian American studies required by mid-June for a preferred start date of August 16, 2023. The starting salary is competitive.
