Job Description: The Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) and International Services (IS) Division mission is to provide care and comfort to the members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. It is the impetus for the establishment of the American Red Cross (ARC). SAF-IS at the Red Cross is a mixture of both tradition and innovation. ARC continues to provide traditional support to military families; serve in military and veterans hospitals, and conduct emergency communication. But, we also continually adapt our traditional services and create new programs to meet the needs of today's military member, veterans and their families. The American Red Cross is hiring SAF/IS Reserve staff to deploy on an as-needed basis to overseas locations where we support the military community. This is a Reserve assignment for overseas deployments in June and October (deployments are 6 months in duration). At this time, candidates must reside in our Central Atlantic Division (VA, WV, DE, DC, OH, KY, MD) to be considered for this deployment. POSITION SUMMARY: American Red Cross Reservists assist in the delivery of American Red Cross programs and services to members of the United States military deployed to conflict areas, in accordance with Red Cross policies and procedures. This is accomplished through managing volunteers and working with other Red Cross departments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary mission is providing emergency communications services between military personnel and their families. Represents the American Red Cross and promotes its programs and services on the installation by ensuring effective working relationships with the military community. Assists in the supervision of volunteer staff and management of all related human resource functions - including recruitment, training, utilization, evaluation and recognition in accordance with ARC policies and procedures; helps ensure volunteer staff ratio reflects the diversity of the population being served. Performs financial and administrative functions as required in accordance with policies and procedures of American Red Cross. Participate fully in ARC morale program on installation. This may include hospital visits, canteen functions, internet lounges, libraries, distribution of donated items and special events such as game nights or birthday parties. Support installation events such as fun runs and other special events. Other duties as assigned to include possible custodial or maintenance related tasks. Job Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, human resources management, community organization, social or health sciences, or related field; or relevant equivalent experience is required. A minimum of five years relevant experience. Requires strong computer skills. Public speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing are required. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in an individual or team environment. The ability to balance multiple priorities is essential. Experience with American Red Cross programs and services is desired. Familiarity with military culture, regulations and protocol is strongly desired. US citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and a no-fee US passport. Worldwide mobility is a condition of employment and an essential function of this position. Must accept work assignments anywhere in the world, including conflict areas, where the American Red Cross is providing services to members of the military and their families. Must meet strict medical and physical requirements, including immunizations required by the US military. May be required to wear uniforms, and live and work in harsh and stressful environment in conflict areas. The American Red Cross requires all new hires be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. This means that all individuals working for the organization must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the start of their employment OR have begun the vaccination process prior to their start date. Upon being offered a position, individuals will be required to submit proof of vaccination. If you are unable to be vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons, you may qualify for an exemption.
