Risk Manager, Commercial Reporting and Assurance Team

The Capital One Commercial Banking division services a $50 billion loan portfolio, serving more than 4,100 clients and greater than 35,000 accounts. This role is leading the Reporting and Assurance Team within the Commercial Risk Office and will play a critical part in the evolution of our strategic approach to risk management. The Reporting and Assurance team is responsible for risk reporting produced by Commercial Risk and coordination between area leadership, first line risk partners and support groups to lead audit and regulatory engagements..

The Risk Manager is a high-impact performer who will provide direct support to the team Director, and will coordinate between area leadership, cross functional risk partners and support groups to prioritize and implement risk management initiatives. Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Manage creation of periodic (monthly/quarterly) non-credit risk reporting decks for presentation to senior leadership including KRIs and KPIs
  • Collaborate with Enterprise and Operational Risk Management to align risk metrics with bank-wide standards
  • Devise strategy/agenda for displaying near real-time risk tracking metrics for executive reporting
  • Create messaging materials for clients across Commercial Banking including teams within Commercial Risk, the revenue generating lines of business, and second line advisors (e.g. Compliance)
  • Maintain/update reporting process documentation
  • Lead and coordinate activities relating to Audit (Internal and External) and Regulatory Exams on behalf of the Commercial business
  • Communicate audit scope, issues, risks and recommendations to management in written reports and oral presentations
  • Manage staff during audit engagements, and provide feedback on work performed. Ensure work is performed in a quality fashion that meets deadlines
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key business partners
  • On assurance engagements facilitate teamwork, coordinate and leverage available resources to complete engagements on time.
  • Build and utilize relationships outside immediate Commercial Risk team to improve overall quality
  • Coordinate with 2nd and 3rd line of defense organizations to execute on assurance activities and other interactions
  • Ability to think broadly, evaluate current practices and challenge the status quo
  • Consult with business partners providing advice and guidance as required
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility
  • Utilize agile principles and practices to effectively manage and prioritize work


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of financial services industry experience
  • At least 3 years of operations management or risk management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years People Leadership experience
  • Lean, agile, business process or project management certifications
  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
