Principal Associate, Brand Social & Content Strategy, Consumer Segment

This role will lead the development of strategies and implement social media and content campaigns targeting consumers, in support of one or more lines of business. In the role, you'll drive the strategy and integrated campaign development process from end-to-end for multiple message streams, across an array of social and content channels. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives, develop briefs that guide incredible creative teams, provide strategic guidance and guardrails for paid media support, and work with internal partners, as well as legal teams, to publish a regular cadence of brand-defining content that delivers on Capital One's strategy and brand standards. You'll be responsible for monitoring and sharing the story of the results of social media & content initiatives and applying learnings to future campaigns.

What you'll do:
  • Develop integrated social & content campaign strategies in support of one or more lines of business and supporting multiple marketing messages
  • Guide content marketing and social media development work for a broad channel ecosystem - from social media to long-form on Capital One owned channels, 3rd party content platforms, and paid influencer/creator content
  • Lead agencies and cross-functional team members while partnering with creative teams to execute breakthrough campaigns that drive brand awareness, trigger actions and build engagement with Capital One's flagship consumer products and services
  • Serve as social and content expert, advising partner teams on social and content strategies that best meet business objectives
  • Develop and present thoughtful, integrated briefs to activate paid media strategy, creative development, and engagement strategies
  • Provide strategic oversight of creative development (with internal creative teams or agency partners) to ensure marketing materials are on brand, high quality, unassailable, and delivered on schedule
  • Develop learning agendas and partner with analytic teammates to help drive insights that influence future digital marketing agendas
  • Manage input from cross-functional stakeholders (business partners, creative team, legal, compliance, etc.) and partner across the organization and various teams to communicate and manage projects
  • Optimize marketing strategies informed by past results, market changes and consumer insights
  • Work with community managers to ensure flawless execution, timely response, and consistent voice
  • Partner with senior management to develop and drive innovation agendas
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and competitive strategies to identify potential challenges and opportunities in the short and long term
  • Use your expertise across major social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, etc. including astute knowledge of social media best practices and guidelines including: targeting, channel strategies, KPI development, high-level understanding of paid social media, analytics / insight tools
  • Lead and support other project-oriented work designed to enhance team productivity and impact as needed

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in marketing of consumer products and services
  • At least 2 years of social media marketing experience (content creation, social media advertising, or social content strategy)
  • At least 2 years of managing relationships with digital agencies or internal creative teams
  • At least 1 year of running paid social campaigns


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of marketing communications or 5+ years of advertising with a heavy emphasis on social or digital marketing
  • Experience working with creative teams to develop smart strategies, managing agency relationships on both strategic and creative projects, developing paid media strategies for social, and influencing others across a variety of marketing functions
  • Experience developing and executing Paid Media campaigns across major social platforms - preferably for a large consumer brand
  • Experience in financial services, or other highly regulated industry
  • Experience working with paid talent/content creators to create high-impact social content
  • Experience tapping live-event experiences and or internal thought leaders as a source of compelling consumer content
  • Working knowledge of strategies for driving the organic reach of content, including exposure to developing SEO-driven content strategies
