Overview

The Senior Data Developer is a senior position within IT Systems Integration with responsibilities to develop and support the data warehouses and ancillary databases across the credit union. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and overseeing data policies and procedures that ensure the integrity, quality and availability of databases and accompanying software. The Senior Data Developer will support the Data Analytics and Operations business intelligence team with complex data extractions for sound corporate reporting deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop methods for data extraction, manipulation and reporting to meet business requirements and goals
  • Work with project teams to ensure that data retrieval and reporting methods meet business requirements for project completion
  • Support master data management and data integrity processes and infrastructure
  • Follow change control and testing processes for modifications to databases
  • Implement and enforce data security controls and procedures
  • Develop to coding standards and quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Support, maintain and resolve database access and performance issues
  • Identify trends and implement efficiency improvements to optimize performance
  • Test changes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
  • Provide help in the agile software development life-cycle by developing plans, coding to standards, and testing
  • Interact with internal system users and external technical personnel as necessary to complete development and support issues
  • Participate in the research and development of new database tools, languages and platforms and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Provide guidance, training and mentoring for new developer staff
  • Perform peer reviews of programming and system updates of other developers
  • Set and meet expectations for delivery of code, including testing and integration efforts
  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of financial sensitive information and maintain the technical mechanisms of legitimate access and release of the data to meet the requirements of the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA)
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

Required
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working as a support analyst and strong knowledge of industry standard development methodologies, languages and platforms
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the software lifecycle and agile development methodologies
  • Must have expertise in SQL Server Administration, SQL Coding, database systems, database modeling, and data analytic techniques
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of Hadoop Ecosystem Tools, Java and Python
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, to build good working relationships and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge of techniques used to investigate new data sources, apply normalization techniques, and design appropriate ETL data flows
  • Ability to translate user needs into design for applications and processes
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to participate on project teams and promote interdisciplinary problem solving
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Skilled at writing clear and concise requirements documentation and training materials, understanding user requirements, and implementing solutions
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and understand network concepts.


Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with IT financial systems, banking or credit union
  • A working knowledge of JSON, XML, ASP.Net, Unix Scripting, or other server-side cross platform languages
