Consider this exciting opportunity as a Data Storyteller within the Planning and Performance Analysis team in AARP's Community, State and National Affairs Group (CSN). The insights you provide will help shape critical decisions for senior and executive leadership to determine how we execute on AARP's social impact agenda for the 50+ community.

As a Data Storyteller you will lead initiatives to develop goals and analyze performance in CSN's efforts. You will also provide guidance and monitor work against identified organizational performance objectives. Share insights from test-and-learn and evaluation projects with staff and volunteers to increase impact and relevance.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, manages, monitors, and analyzes key performance metrics (KPI) across all facets of the enterprise with the goal of improving business performance.
  • Works with management teams to develop performance measurement frameworks (i.e., KPI's, metrics, etc.).
  • Analyzes data and uses analysis to create compelling and actionable data stories to share with key stakeholders to drive decisions. Ensures data and analysis quality and accuracy.
  • Serves as ambassadors for analytics, supporting cross-functional teams to improve and interpret data.
  • Collects, manages, and provides department/division reports. Produces and distributes scheduled reports. Supports and coordinates ad-hoc report requests.
  • Improves marketing performance by gathering, analyzing, and sharing marketing data and insights. Uses skills to deploy data management, web analytics, campaign management, financial analysis, or data modeling, but generally in service of reporting and improving marketing KPIs.
  • Develops long-term goals and strategic plans to ensure continued successful growth and profitability. Studies, analyzes, and monitors the organization's position within the industry.
  • Coordinates and integrates division plans with the organization's business goals and objectives.
  • Reviews achievement of performance versus strategic plans.
  • Communicates performance results with senior management.
  • Advises and recommends strategies based on reviews.development and delivery of training programs or presentations and recommends program revisions.
  • Manages data quality. Acts as a liaison with technology regarding maintenance of database systems. Provides support to various projects/analysis gathering data and presenting results.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (business or economics preferred); MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in data analytics or analytical capacity linking strategy to measurement.
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate highly complex findings.
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to coordinate across various groups and be proficient at managing multiple projects.
  • A critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and facilitation skills with creativity, adaptability and flexibility in dealing with process or programmatic challenges and options.
  • Expert use of data management and visualization tools such as Excel and Tableau, including the ability to perform calculations, create pivot tables and graphs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to inform, educate, motivate and work with others at all levels to ensure high performance and achievement of strategic goals.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
