Human Resources Director
Overview: Steampunk is seeking a Human Resources Director to join our team in McLean, VA. The Human Resources Director will report to the Chief People Officer and will work closely with the Executive and Operational Leadership Teams to establish, implement, and manage HR policies and programs across the company. This person will manage and lead the Human Resources team as their mentor and supervisor and will maintain and enhance our employee-oriented, high-performance culture. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing all aspects of human resources including employee relations, performance management, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, recruiting and retention, benefits management and administration, compensation administration, training and employee development, compliance, and organizational development. Contributions: Lead and Manage the Steampunk Human Resources teamBuild upon current Talent Management programs and augment service delivery strategies thereby enhancing approaches for achieving growth across the enterpriseProvides proactive leadership on company wide human resource initiatives with a focus on Retention, DEI, and Compensation Management & Benefits improvement strategiesResearches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the organizations diversity goalsReviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the companys diversity goals. Develops and/or acquires training and development to aid diversity and retention initiatives.Leads human resources team in developing objective performance and other employee evaluations and policies.Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practicesAssist in facilitating strategic planning and initiatives, change management and organizational designDesign and maintain company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and programsDirect company-wide benefits program to include reviewing existing benefits options, determining corporate benefits strategy and offerings, managing broker and vendor relationships, negotiating benefit costs to achieve the best alternative for the company, and managing corporate benefits communications and open enrollmentLead company-wide continuous feedback and performance review processAssist leadership with compensation management to include making salary recommendations for new hires and existing employees based upon job title, qualifications, performance, location, market and size/health of company; Conduct annual review of salaries across the company to ensure equity of pay based on the same criteriaLead in the development of training programs to expand the technology capabilities of the organization.Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues as may from time-to-time arise; conduct effective, thorough, objective investigations and serve as an objective, third party in mediating conflictWork closely with management and employees to continuously improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retentionProvide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership to include coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actionsMaintain responsibility for organizational compliance with federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to employment and personnel mattersServe as a trusted, confidential advisor to senior leadership and be an in-person presence for both employees and leadership to answer questions and provide input into conversations as neededGenerate human resources data reports and presentations as necessary Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 12+ years of professional work experience Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment lawsDisplay of dexterity in making strategic and sound decisions in developing organizational goalsAbility to use statistics, data, and technology in enhancing performanceAbility to demonstrate solid budgeting and management skillsPossession of the skills, knowledge, and experience working as a leader of human resourcesStrong background in employee relations and engagementPrior experience with talent acquisition and onboarding About steampunk: Steampunk is a Change Agent in the Federal contracting industry, bringing new thinking to clients in the Homeland, Federal Civilian, Health and DoD sectors.
