Summary This position is in the Office of General & Ethics in the Legal Division of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The incumbent serves as an Attorney-Advisor who will routinely provide guidance on Bureau wide operational matters and policies, as well as represent the CFPB in administrative litigation. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the CN-53, broadly equivalent to the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, your duties will be adjusted accordingly. Attorneys at CFPB may be eligible for promotions subject to the Bureau's Attorney Hiring & Promotion Policy.Provide confidential legal and policy advice in the area of general law, which includes but not limited to, fiscal, employment, EEO, labor, procurement, government ethics, rules of professional conduct for attorneys, travel, and information (such as intellectual property, data rights, government records, information security, privileges, privacy and FOIA).Represent the Bureau in labor and employment matters including serving as the Bureau's representative in administrative forums and federal courts.Counsel clients, including senior Bureau staff, with respect to legal compliance, litigation risk, and other legal and policy issues.Plan, research, and analyze legal issues arising from policy options and CFPB procedures. Develop tactical and strategic plans for straightforward proposed actions and agency activity.Draft for review straightforward proposed agency decisions and provide legal guidance and advice on straightforward personnel matters and other given legal specialty areas.Lead certain aspects of matters with minimal guidance.Manage competing priorities with minimal guidance from supervisors and more senior attorneys.Travel RequiredOccasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.Promotion Potential00 - Applicants will be selected at any one of the advertised grades based on experience and accomplishments.
