Overview: Provides secretarial and receptionist services to the Department of Social Work and assists social workers in support of the discharge planning process. Responsibilities: Provides support to the Social Work Department assisting with the discharge and care management of patients.Performs tasks as delegated by the Social Work staff during the initial and ongoing phases of the discharge planning process.Provides accurate clerical support to Social Work staff, including payroll, answering the general phone, typing letters, memos, and minutes and sending and receiving FAX documents within 15 minutes of request, and distributing messages from printer within 15 minutes of receipt of message.Greets all patients and visitors in a professional manner and obtains appropriate information.Maintains orderly Social Work Department office and accurate community resources to ensure an effective work flow of the Department.Act as a patient advocate and liaison between patient/family and community services and agencies to improve the health of patients. Assist patients with community resources including completing applications, registration forms and connect with community resources and transportation services.Maintains office supplies and equipment, including emergency clothes closet, ordering supplies and places maintenance orders for all Social Work areas on same day that need is identified.Accurately assists with patient transportation services, receiving patient and staff requests with courtesy, scheduling transports to and from Mercy without error, within half hour of the request. Maintains accurate voucher and token supplies and records for financial management of the transportation services.Provide information to patients as delegated while monitoring and reporting on any need for follow up by licensed staff.Duties include clerical and non-clerical functions that are within the scope of a non-licensed personnel within the hospital setting. Qualifications: Education and Work Experience:Must possess a high school diploma or GEDAA degree preferredTwo years of secretarial or customer service experience.Experience in health care setting preferred.Fluency in Spanish preferred
