A$ A' "A' ?The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), a Washington, DC based trade association, is seeking a Manager, Intergovernmental Affairs to be responsible for establishing and enhancing relationships with external organizations that have the potential to help the NAHB accomplish its public policy objectives.A' The Manager, Intergovernmental Affairs will serve as liaison and assist the VP of Intergovernmental Affairs and other division/association staff in representing the industry perspective to outside organizations; and work in coalition and maintain regular communications with all relevant staff, state/local home building associations and their staff leaders, and outside groups.A' The Manager, Intergovernmental Affairs will also prepare issue briefs and report/assist with research and writing of advocacy material on public policy issues that impact housing; will conduct research on legislative and regulatory issues of relevance to the building industry; and serve as primary contact for all member and association inquiries regarding NAHB's interaction with external organizations.A' A' A' Qualified candidates will have strong writing and organizational skills and excellent research and analytical abilities.A' Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are a must.A' Candidates should also have strong computer skills as well as a basic understanding of political, government, legislative, and regulatory processes.A' A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in government/politics (state/local exposure preferred) and/or service in association government/political affairs/an issue-oriented capacity.A' Prior knowledge of the building and development industry is desirable.A' A four-year college degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent in education and experience is required.A' About NAHB:A' The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) helps its members build communities.A' Each year, NAHB's members construct about 80% of the new homes built in the United States, both single-family and multifamily.A' A federation of more than 800 state and local associations, NAHB represents more than 140,000 members.A' About one-third are home builders and remodelers.A' Other members work in closely related specialties, such as sales and marketing, housing finance, and manufacturing and supplying building materials.A' To apply for this position, please visit /jobs.A' Equal Opportunity Employer
