We are seeking an experienced Director of Product Development to join our dynamic, fast-paced team. In this role, you will be responsible for the product go-to-market strategy for all product development, managing the development of new products from ideation to execution. The Director will drive the research, initiation, evaluation, development, and follow-through of all new product launches for Proprietary Brands. The role is expected to play a key role in defining brand product strategy, delivering the strategic product initiatives, and managing product development against promised timelines and revenue and margin metrics. You are highly collaborative, action oriented, and have an ability to think strategically with a passion for day-to-day execution. The perfect candidate is someone who not only loves beauty but is obsessed with wanting to disrupt the category and make a bold statement through our approach to launching breakthrough, cult-favorite products with a strong business case. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:A' . Play a key role in defining the go-to-market strategy with the Proprietary Brands leadership. Define and socialize strategic priorities, key initiatives, and measures of success to enhance the overall customer experience by offering a superior product with compelling positioning and pricing.A' . Responsible for the Proprietary Brands product pipeline, product planning and execution through the lifecycle of the business. Gather and prioritize requirements for the product, define the vision for the product, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver against financial and customer satisfaction goals.A' . Ensure that Bluemercury's overall strategy and goals are supported by the brand assortments.A' . Lead the ongoing development, refinement, and socialization of the innovation and product development strategy. A' . Develop and maintain key alliances and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.A' . Partner with VP, Proprietary Brands to establish business-wide imperatives, high priority initiatives, and measures of success.A' . Develop customer segment value propositions, product roadmaps and assortment plans, and go-to-market strategies for all channels and markets. A' . Ensure collaboration and cross-functional alignment to enable the execution of our business plans and drive market leading top and bottom-line growth.A' . In addition to being a very strategic role, direct and oversee all aspects of execution such as identifying product concepts and benchmarks leading to a product profile, responsible for all lab briefs, working directly with suppliers to source product componentry, and partnering with operations to develop bill of materials and product development timelines to hold partners accountable.A' . Work with contract manufacturers and lab partners to develop formulas consistent with our brand pillars and value proposition that comply with product safety and testing standards.A' . Partner with marketing and creative on product packaging design (including artwork & decoration), conceptualizing compelling product launch stories, as well as sampling strategies to support planned growth initiatives.A' . Conduct competitive assessments, analyze cost of goods, and recommend retail prices. Monitor international beauty trends and pull insights into product lines which will position the brand to meet or exceed competitors' offerings.A' . Responsible for staying on top of new trends and technology, researching new ingredients, textures, products, and packaging to allow for greater innovation.A' . Manage, coach, and develop team members.DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:A' . 8+ years of industry related experience; 4-6 years of experience in personal care/cosmetic manufacturing and product developmentA' . Bachelor's degree; Master's degree or equivalent experience is a plusA' . Excellent understanding of the skincare and cosmetic industry, formulations, ingredients, and the everchanging regulatory environmentA' . Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing teams successfully A' . Innovative and creative thinker A' . Strong understanding of product lifecycle A' . Impeccable attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills A' . Strong financial and analytical acumen, embedding data and analytics into recommendations and decisionsA' .
