A$ A' "A' ?The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General to the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS), the Maryland state administrative agency responsible for coordinating emergency medical services in Maryland, licensing and disciplining emergency medical clinicians, and designating hospitals as trauma and specialty centers. The Assistant Attorney General will serve as an administrative prosecutor of disciplinary cases against EMS clinicians. In this role, the Assistant Attorney General works closely with the Board's investigatory staff, drafts charging documents, litigates cases before the Office of Administrative Hearings and makes presentations before the EMS Board. Other responsibilities include advising the MIEMSS, the State Emergency Medical Services Board and the State Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council on regulatory matters and other legal matters pertaining to emergency medical services provided by paramedics, emergency medical technicians, emergency medical responders and emergency medical dispatchers as well as the jurisdictional emergency medical services operational programs and commercial ambulance services that oversee Maryland EMS clinicians. The Assistant Attorney General will advise on confidentiality of medical records, regulatory promulgation and enforcement. The attorney will also review legislation, draft regulations, and handle litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years' experience in litigation. Administrative law experience that includes licensing and regulatory matters, and experience in health care law is desirable.
