A$ A' "A' ?Job Summary:The Managing Director, DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) is responsible for executive management, leadership, and oversight of DCSEU service delivery, strategic planning, marketing, policy, and public affairs. The Managing Director, DCSEU will have primary responsibility for the development, execution, and oversight of agreements with the District of Columbia and will serve to ensure DCSEU goals and objectives are met.Essential Functions:Sets the vision and strategic direction to implement the work set out in the DCSEU contract.Establishes and is accountable for achievement of DCSEU program goals, objectives, milestones, and metrics and leads the development of agreements with the District of Columbia and other contracting organizations.Directly supervises, mentors, and leads the DCSEU Leadership Team, which is responsible for strategy and communications, operations, finance, and public affairs.Directs, manages, and leads DCSEU staff (both directly and through other supervisors) in all aspects of their work.Ensures that the mission, products, programs, and services of DCSEU are consistently presented in a strong, positive way to relevant stakeholders and serves as the official spokesperson for DCSEU.Responsible for regular communications with internal and external stakeholder groups.Primary responsibility for resource allocation decisions for meeting budgets and goals, including the development and execution of annual planning and budgeting processes.Collaborates with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure alignment of DCSEU's strategic direction with VEIC's strategic direction.Supports activities of other staff, department, and divisions within VEIC as is necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.Employs excellent leadership skills and dedicated commitment to the pursuit of VEIC mission, vision, and core values.Other responsibilities as requested.Knowledge and Experience:Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of VEIC and to the work VEIC is doing in the District of Columbia.Master's degree in business administration or other relevant degree and a minimum of ten years of management experience, including executive leadership, staff supervision, contract management and negotiation, budget management, communications, and the ability to develop and attain goals or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. Minimum of five years of experience in the management and supervision of senior managers focused on operations in a large organization (annual budget of at least $25 million).Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of large, complex projects - including leading multiple departments, interacting with clients, maintaining project/program budgets, holding staff accountable to program goals, and overseeing all aspects of project work.Excellent strategy, analysis, planning, and decision-making experience.Proven leadership skills in collaborative and team environments.Exceptional communication skills for public and internal audiences including writing, speaking, and presentation skills, motivational messaging, public relations, and media communication skills.Deep and thorough understanding of quality management, improvement, and continuous learning processes, and demonstrated ability to develop and implement systems to improve performance.Strong skills in interpersonal relations, assessing individual strengths and weakness, political savvy, managerial courage.Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy program design and service delivery is preferred. Working Conditions:Internal - Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.).
