A$ A' "A' ?POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Teacher works with lead teachers to promote the educational and social development of the children enrolled in the program.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA cents € cents Assist lead teacher with reinforcing daily lessons/routinesA cents € cents Assist lead teachers with recordkeeping, such as tracking attendance and sign-in sheets.A cents € cents Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure children's safety.A cents € cents Assist the lead teacher with implementing our curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child.A cents € cents Assist lead teachers in preparing for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment.A cents € cents Assist the lead teacher in planning and maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment where children can learn and play.A cents € cents Help to enforce center and classroom expectations using positive guidance and languageA cents € cents Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self and social awareness.A cents € cents Observe the children's performance/progress.A cents € cents Maintain a calm, positive attitude and warm tone while working together with the children, staff, and families.A cents € cents Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents, coworkers, and administration.A cents € cents Closely follow licensing regulations related to the Virginia Department of Education.A cents € cents Follow and help ensure all administration policies and rules.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSCompetencies:A cents € cents Have a passion for teaching young children.A cents € cents An ability to build good, healthy relationships with families and coworkers.A cents € cents Dependability, outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and manage multiple situations effectively.A cents € cents Ability to speak, read, and write basic English.A cents € cents The ability to accept guidance and supervision.A cents € cents CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtainA cents € cents Must meet VA Licensing guidelines for the roleA cents € cents Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 30 pounds, and work in indoor or outdoor settings.A cents € cents Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.SKILLS & ABILITIESEducation & ExperienceA cents € cents Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma/GED, CDA, some coursework or degree preferredA cents € cents A minimum of 3 years of Early Childhood Education Experience (preferred)A cents € cents CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtainTechnology Skills:A cents € cents Basic computer skills (MS Office), ability to learn family software application.PHYSICAL DEMANDSA cents € cents Stand, walk, sit, reach outward, reach above shoulders, and lift at least 30 pounds to waist level.WORK ENVIRONMENTA cents € cents Work is performed primarily in the center with work indoors and outdoors
