Overview: Axient is looking for a Journeyman Software Engineer in their Dahlgren office to support a critical Navy program at NSWC Dahlgren Division. Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include: Assist in overseeing software development activities by an external organization. Tasks may include but are not limited to evaluating software architecture and design; evaluating software development plans (including software testing and infrastructure); interacting with related working groups and cross-product teams." This position will work on contractor site in Washington DC metro area (Dahlgren, Arlington, or Columbia MD). The candidate must attend occasional meetings on customer site at Naval Surface Warfare center in Dahlgren VA. Assist in requirements analysis, software design, coding, unit testing, integration, installation and maintenanceMust show attention to detail, have a positive attitude, express a willingness to learn, be challenged, and to take pride in the quality and timeliness of your workConduct software acceptance and delivery activities. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including system architects, project managers, product owners and operationsPerform troubleshooting of operational and integration issuesDevelop and write specification and design documents Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in areas of software development to include software design, analysis, testing, documentation, and experience and/or ability to code in the following: in C++; C #; Simu-Link; JAVA; Python. Demonstrate experience in the following areas:Developing software to communicate with other hardware using TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.Developing real-time system and subsystem level software products, databases (Oracle, MSAccess, etc), and knowledge or experience with operating systems (LINUX and MS Windows) and interfaces.Agile methodology.Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university in software engineering or computer science.Active US DoD SECRET Security Clearance Self-starter - Demonstrate independent ownership of tasking. Position affords opportunity to define path and lead tasks based on technical understanding of engineering community and appreciation of customer needs. Desired Qualifications:Experience with Navy Combat Systems Software development or testingExisting Navy accounts (uNMCI, cNMCI) a bonusMust have coding/scripting ability and training in Agile methodologies. Competencies in data structures and algorithmsMust meet applicable COVID safety requirements and protocols
