The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Data Analyst, to join the Masters Programs Office. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
The data analyst supports the Smith School’s master’s programs. This person will be responsible for conducting full lifecycle analysis of the data associated with these programs and creating a wide variety of reports on a regular basis. This will involve the ability to acquire data from primary and secondary data sources such as enrollment and program completion data, registration information, student progress/retention data and teaching/faculty data. For all programs this position will develop and maintain databases, data collection systems, data analytics and monitor performance to identify improvements. This includes but is not limited to the interpreting trends or patterns in the data, filtering and cleaning the data, working with management to prioritize informational needs and exploring process improvement opportunities. This position will work closely with data from our prospective students in conjunction with our admissions, Marcomm and recruiting teams and segment them into meaningful target segments for potential outreach from all of Smith’s online and campus-based programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 3- 5 years or master’s degree with 1-3 years required. Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization software a must. Familiarity of R, SAS, or Python is a plus. Experience with CRM software. Salesforce or Marketing Cloud experience a plus. Experience with data query languages (SQL, HIVE [data sci]). Experience with edX platform, Qualtrics, CVent, CMS and/or Hobson’s Apply Yourself a plus; proficient with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Proficient with the core MS Office suite programs and an intermediate to advanced user of Excel, including the ability to use formulas, functions, and pivot tables. Must be able to communicate effectively; write clear emails, memos and reports; be friendly, cheerful, and patient; and enjoy explaining complicated concepts to others, including in visual reports. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Keen problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities; high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Able to work successfully in a highly diverse university environment. Preferences: Master’s Degree. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
