Library Specialist II, Collections Management - Fenwick Stacks Students & Spaces Specialist The George Mason University Libraries Fenwick Collections Management department, seeks an energetic, dependable, experienced, and production-oriented individual to support the Fenwick Library Sunday through Thursday evening operations, as a Library Specialist II, Collections Management - Spaces & Student Assistant Specialist. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:This position requires an experienced, customer focused, and production oriented individual to provide outstanding services to the Fenwick Collections Management department by managing the student assistants and furniture placement at Fenwick Library. The Collections Management - Spaces & Student Assistant Specialist is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and management of student assistants in the Fenwick Collections Management department. Places work-orders for building issues, assists in shifts of the collections and performs/supervises collections maintenance duties. Monitors and maintains placement of furniture in the library's public spaces. Serves as senior person in charge of library facilities Sunday through Thursday evenings.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and library experience;Academic library experience;Demonstrated strong customer service skills;Demonstrated experience performing stacks maintenance duties;Experience supervising staff and/or student assistants;Demonstrated experience with office productivity software, computer equipment and software;Aptitude for accurate and detail-oriented work;Solid organizational skills, including ability to manage competing priorities for self and others, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment;Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) for providing customer service in a diverse, academic environment and for interacting with library staff, faculty, students, and members of the public;Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, production- and service-oriented environment;Physical ability to bend and reach overhead, to grasp and move library materials, to move and unpack packages and bins (up to 40 pounds), and to push loaded book trucks; andDependability and punctuality.Preferred Qualifications:Successful experience responding to building/facilities issues;Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current library systems (such as Alma) and research resources (such as EBSCO, JSTOR, ProQuest, etc.);Experience hiring student assistants.;Library public services experience;Circulation experience;Experience shifting library collections; andExperience training student assistants.
