Job Summary: 
Westat has an immediate opening for an Epidemiologist to join our team of researchers in conducting research, surveys, analysis, and evaluation studies on behavioral health and related topics including substance use, mental health, child welfare, and criminal justice.  In this position you will: a) lead and support large and small studies in our Behavioral Health and Health Policy Practice; b) collaborate and consult with investigators and internal project team members on your work designing and implementing multi-site studies and surveys; and c) provide epidemiology, analysis, and data management support including developing data protocols, and overseeing and conducting data management and analysis for Westat projects to support and contribute to project deliverables, reports, and scientific peer reviewed publications.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Support all stages of research and surveillance projects from protocol development through data collection, analysis, and reporting under the management of a project director or senior epidemiologist. 
•    Support study design to include refining protocols, data dictionaries and data collection plans. 
•    Conduct data cleaning, harmonization, and analysis on large, multiple datasets. 
•    Contribute to business development and proposal writing.  Supervise research assistant level staff. 
•    Interact with clients.
•    Contribute to preparing analytical results for publication in peer-reviewed and technical journals.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or equivalent and 2 years of experience.
•    Experience with project budgets, developing technical, staffing and cost proposals.
•    Experience with R and SAS required.

Minimum Qualifications: 
•    Experience drafting statistical analysis plans and conducting analysis.
•    Experience collecting and analyzing data from administrative records (e.g., Electronic Medical Records) and other primary sources (agencies, individuals). 

Preferred qualifications:
•    Experience disseminating research findings to a variety of audiences.
•    Experience working in a contracting environment.
