AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Account Development Manager on the Health Products Team, you will be responsible for managing existing provider relationship programs and associated contracts to identify improvements and measure outcomes for Medicare Advantage, Part D, and Rx Programs. You will develop, execute, and implement new engagement programs and relationships that align with the organization's goals and objectives. In addition, manage provider relationships and act as the main point of contact for all activities including growth and development to ensure ongoing health of the products/program relationships.


  • Responsible for all provider/partner activities including those within AARP Services and AARP. Manages the day to day provider relationships and activities to ensure success of the products/programs. Ensures program growth including revenue, member value and product enhancement opportunities through annual account plan development.
  • Manages the ongoing quality control of programs and assures compliance with all contract terms including review process of the programs and providers/partners, oversight of marketing plans, product operational plans, and product enhancements.
  • Manages or participates in provider contract renegotiations in the portfolio for the products/programs offered to AARP members.
  • Influences matrix to optimize program functions, including strategic account planning and growth.
  • Works with the providers on the development of a continuous improvement process for all program and product categories. Collaborates with the Director to set strategic direction for the programs and program development.
  • Cultivates deep understanding of industry knowledge. Completes periodic competitive assessments of programs or products in order to monitor relative value within the marketplace; identifies the features and competitive advantages versus the competition.


  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business related field; Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience with the following experience desirable:
    • healthcare, and/or
    • product development and management, and/or
    • profit and loss responsibility, and/or
    • business account management, and/or
    • an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • General product knowledge in all areas (operations, development, marketing/sales, service, claims, etc.) of programs supported preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills to complex and diverse audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking and proficiency in applying quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to build productive business relationships and work effectively with multiple levels and disciplines of the ASI matrix and of the program providers.
  • Leads effective cross-functional teams, while exercising good judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Proactive manager that fully understands the principles of continuous improvement. Constantly evaluates and identifies areas for improvement and initiates positive change.
  • Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships.
  • Independent judgment and discretion requiring the employee to compare and evaluate various courses of conduct and make a decision (or recommend a decision to be made) after various possibilities have been considered.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
