Collection Analysis Specialist The Collections Strategy Department at the George Mason University Libraries is looking for an innovative and collaborative person for the position of Collection Analysis Specialist. About the Position:Reporting to the Head, Collections Strategy, this position facilitates the collection development work of the department, with major assignments in monograph (print and ebook) collection analysis & assessment, Curriculum-Driven Acquisitions, and electronic resources management.The Collection Analysis Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Libraries' collection analysis program, with a focus on print and electronic monographs. This work may include, but is not limited to: conducting analyses of existing monograph collections; reporting the outcomes of collection development programs (including approval plans, Patron-Driven Acquisitions, and Curriculum Driven Acquisitions) to subject librarians and other internal stakeholders; evaluating and recommending adjustments to program parameters to maintain collection balance and support for academic programs within the budgeted allocations; analyzing the outcomes of the Libraries' collection development systems and practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; and implementing new approaches to collection development, such as incorporating Open Access materials into our collections.The Collection Analysis Specialist also collaborates with staff in the Access and Resource Management (ARM) division of the libraries to facilitate the movement of electronic resources through the full spectrum of acquisitions, cataloging, marketing, and other processes related to electronic resource management. Required Qualifications:Basic knowledge and understanding of collection development functions in academic libraries;Demonstrated knowledge and use of library systems/services including integrated library systems, online catalogs, and indexes/databases in academic libraries;High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (minimum skill level: using VLOOKUP, creating pivot tables and related charts);Advanced organizational skills, including ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment;Excellent written and oral communication skills;Ability to provide customer service in a diverse, academic environment;Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a diverse, academic environment;Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience; andAcademic library experience.Preferred Qualifications: The following education and/or skill sets are preferred:Experience with Alma integrated library system; andExperience analyzing usage, circulation, and/or similar collections data.
