AARP's Community, State and National Affairs Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. The Program Specialist will assist in developing, executing, and implementing new engagement programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives. As the Program Specialist, you will investigate, resolve complaints, and listen to grievances on behalf of members. In addition to that, you will work with staff, volunteers, members, chapters, and other cross-organization teams to achieve AARP's community engagement goals at the state and local levels. The Program Specialist will support Driver Safety initiatives and will be the relationship lead for an external program in partnership with other organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes, and implements new engagement programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives
  • Assists in developing and implementing new solutions
  • Works with program management to support stakeholders (including volunteers, participants and partners)
  • Designs and executes outreach strategies that position and promote company experts, content, and products internally and externally
  • Works with program management to support stakeholders (including volunteers, participants and partners)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years program management support experience and college degree preferred
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Willingness to provide administrative support to various core program
  • Independent judgment and discretion requiring the employee to compare and evaluate various tactics
  • An ability to take responsibility, manage multiple projects at once and deliver professional work products in deadline-driven environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
