The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Academic Coordinator, to join the Scheduling department. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

The position creates and maintains the academic course schedule for the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Coordinates scheduling of courses at all degree levels for programs in College Park, Shady Grove, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Requires working closely with the Office of the Registrar, as well as Business School area chairs, associate chairs, and program offices to ensure that changes are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates scheduling, budgeting, and contracting of certain courses with the Office of Extended Studies. Adheres to campus deadlines and ensures schedule is accurately reflected in all University and School of Business systems. Updates instructor and TA assignments related to grading, workload, and access to enterprise learning management system (ELMS). Provides reports related to space use, instructor workloads, and course survey results. Enters room reservations to internal scheduling system including courses, exams, and non-course meetings and events.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required plus three to five years of relevant experience in managing a complex program schedule, project planning and working in a time-intense work environment. Experience working with course scheduling, event scheduling, and/or project planning. Demonstrated proficiency with standard office and business software applications including a strong aptitude for spreadsheets. Extreme attention to detail. Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills. Ability to solve problems creatively while adhering to policy and procedure. Must possess a high level of professionalism and strong communications skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferences: Master’s Degree. Previous work in higher education. Experience with EMS and 25Live room scheduling software. Familiarity with UMD Student Information System.
