JOB DESCRIPTION
Assists with the administration of large-scale, state, and nationally standardized testing. Proctors reports to a School Testing Coordinator at Alexandria City High School.

This is a seasonal position and the need is based on the volume of testing being administered. There are months in the school year when the need is highest (October, December-February, April-June). Specific dates vary within those months based on the VDOE testing window calendar.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: Job-related previous test administration and/or proctoring experience. Experience in high traffic customer service and/or educational support field and experience in a multicultural environment interacting with speakers of varying levels of English proficiency.

Essential Functions
  • Attend/complete proctor training sessions as required prior to proctor assignment. Training will be completed virtually when possible.
  • Assists with the protection of secure, highly confidential, and valuable documents by maintaining inventory, rosters, logs, and testing files.

Within Testing Environment:
  • Counts tests/test tickets, distributes answer sheets, test booklets, and additional materials required for testing.
  • Provide students with correct exams and testing tickets by verifying identification, appropriate materials, and a proper environment to complete exams in a timely manner.
  • Implement testing accommodations as provided by the School Testing Coordinator
  • Actively monitor testers while in the testing environment to ensure exam integrity. Report academic integrity violations to the School Testing Coordinator.
  • Administer exams according to Alexandria City Public Schools, College Board, and Virginia Department of Education guidelines, as well as State and Federal law. Report violations of exam guidelines to the School Testing Coordinator.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language;
  • Ability to communicate multi-step instructions;
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer competency; ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Ability to function well in a high-stress environment

Clearances:
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance
  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
