Job Announcement

Assigned to the Human Resources Division under the Administrative Support Bureau, serves as the risk management supervisor and the random drug testing and medical information coordinator for the department sworn and professional staff. Manages the department’s risk management process and is the liaison between the department and the county’s risk management division for workers’ compensation and property claims. Manages the full cycle process for the department’s compliance with random drug testing to include scheduling testing days with drug testing contact agency, identifying random employees to be tested, ensuring that all employees are accounted for, arranging payment of invoices for any contracted vendors. Acts as the liaison between the department and the public safety occupational health center (PSOHC) to schedule annual physicals for sworn employees and fitness-for-duty evaluations. Reports to upper management on status of processes, and identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements for the random drug testing, risk management, and annual physicals procedures. Assists sworn officers disabled in the line of duty with line of duty disability applications. Regularly interacts with national and local medical professionals, organizations, fire departments, police departments, intra-county agencies, uniformed and professional personnel and citizens. Maintains departmental medical classifications. Maintains confidential records of infectious disease exposures and random drug testing. Proactively develops, manages, evaluates, and analyzes programs and procedures that are responsive to the changing needs of the department. Reconciles billing for medical testing of recruits including psychological testing. This employee has a higher level of responsibility and complexity due to the numerous federal, state, and local laws and department policy and procedures that encompass all the programs for which fall under the responsibilities of the incumbent.

  • Performs a wide range of professional work in multiple administration functions within an organizational unit including analysis and project management;
  • Performs a variety of technical and professional work related to monitoring and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes;
  • Serves as the point-person and liaison within the department and with central county departments regarding a designated program and functional areas of responsibility;
  • Prepares reports and presentations of analysis and findings.

  • Ability to use word processing and presentation software to prepare documents, and to use spreadsheet and statistical analysis software packages to store, manipulate, analyze and present data;


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in risk management and Worker's Compensation for a state or county government department.
  • Experience with and advanced skills using MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Experience performing multiple assignments with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, and multi-task.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and to sit for long periods of time. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
