Newsletters are an important and intimate way for Post audiences to connect with our journalism, and this position will be vital to ensuring that each Post newsletter keeps the privilege of inbox space, and our readers' needs, in mind.

Understanding those audience needs, what builds habits, what makes receiving a newsletter fun and where we can be innovative and push boundaries is integral to exposing the full breadth of Washington Post reporting to the people who need it. We are looking for an energetic leader with a passion for personality-led, voice-driven, informative and engaging newsletters to work with the head of audience strategy and growth to drive growth and engagement with our inbox products. This leader will need to be well-versed in industry best practices and must consistently look for opportunities for experimentation and synthesizing user feedback. The ideal candidate has experience spotting talent and a journalist's ability to develop a loyal audience through their voice and quality reporting or curation. The successful applicant is an inspiring leader who can get a team of newsletter editors excited about experimenting with form and content. Experience analyzing audience data and communicating actionable insights to editors on the team or around the newsroom is required. We're looking for someone with a collaborative mindset and the ability to team up with partners in product, engineering and marketing to strengthen our products and tools. Strong candidates will have eight or more years of newsroom experience, particularly in the area of newsletter editing and strategy. Management experience is required.

This role reports to the head of audience strategy and growth and is based in our Washington newsroom.

Candidates should upload a résumé and cover letter to our jobs portal.
