Job Announcement

The IT Administrator supports and maintains the IT network and telecommunications systems and equipment for the McLean Community Center (MCC). This position works under the general supervision of the MCC Executive Director, and the duties include but are not limited to:
  • Installs, configures, and maintains all PCs, printers, hardware, software and other equipment.
  • Documents and keeps track through an inventory list of all PCs, printers, telephones, hardware, software, and other equipment.
  • Provides onsite tech support for all MCC staff and its satellite location the Old Firehouse.
  • Provides technical support to local community organizations and renters.
  • Acts as the MCC IT security coordinator, ensures the security of the network and all equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses functionality problems with all PCs , printers, phones, and connectivity issues.
  • Keeps up to date on new technology and makes recommendations on system and equipment replacement and upgrades.
  • Acts as liaison with the County’s Department of Information on equipment installation, upgrades, and issues.
  • Ensures all equipment and hardware is up to date and compatible.
  • Provides user training to MCC staff on all equipment, hardware, software and other IT programs and applications.
  • Provides occasional computer instruction to community members.
  • Assists with running program and service data in support of quality assurance and evaluation.

  • Performs cable routing and termination, equipment installation and configuration, labeling, and documentation;
  • Provides routine support for network and/or telecommunications functions;
  • Responds to and prioritizes requests from users to provide guidance and assistance;
  • Adds/deletes users;
  • Proposes, develops, and implements documentation and procedures for determining and/or preventing problems;
  • Sets up, installs, and tests hardware and peripherals at user sites;
  • Assists in the installation of more complex software and equipment;
  • Provides basic one-on-one training to users;
  • Maintains system records and documentation;
  • Participates in managing network/telecommunication system upgrades, expansions, and equipment exchange.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Understands the PC in a network environment;
  • Understands the network environment and its operation;
  • Ability to install system hardware and software;
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and manage studies, special projects and assignments;
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on different applications software packages;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally; and in writing;
  • Ability to assist users in solving systems problems;
  • Ability to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to management and employees;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Possession of an associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus two years network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • CPR required within 3 months of hire
  • First Aid required within 3 months of hire
  • AED required within 3 months of hire
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.
  • The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background investigation, Child Protective Services Registry check, and credit check.
  • Occasional evening, weekend and holiday work will be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other related field, plus three or more years of progressively hands on experience in IT support, server management, telecommunications or other related field.
  • Experience with cloud storage and data recovery.
  • Proficiency in hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience in IT, intranet, and internet security.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Experience with end system user training.
  • Ability to run reports and understand system and analytical data.
  • Possesses strong oral and verbal communication and organization skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. May require lifting to 25 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
