Job Announcement

  • Enters defendants' data and assigns cases to court appointed counsel in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Copies, compiles and disseminates case files efficiently.
  • Effectively organizes work to ensure that case papers are easily tracked and located.
  • Regularly reviews case work for errors and makes corrections to ensure accuracy.
  • Recognizes priorities and meets established deadlines set by the Court.
  • Is knowledgeable and follows established procedures in accessing and utilizing the Court's automated systems.
  • Provides assistance to court interpreters as needed.
  • As the authorized court official responsible for reviewing, processing and signing all interpreter paperwork ensures that all such documents are complete and accurate prior to authorization.
  • Assists in the training of staff; explains departmental policy/procedures .
Note: The assigned functional areas of theposition aregeneral administrative support, criminal justice, legal support, court services, and customer service.

Job term: This is a part-time (20 hours per week), job-share position.

Salary: The selected applicant's hourly rate will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($18.0685 to $24.0915) of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.
  • The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge and experience of general office administration and customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated front-desk experience, to include providing customer service to internal and external customers; and answering and operating multiple phone lines.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with databases.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
  • Beginner level or higher skills in Microsoft Office computer software, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor; incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Must communicate with others. Employee may be required to lift up to 15 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
