The Lourie Center School seeks to hire a Behavior Technician who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As the Behavioral Technician, you will:
•Use a wide variety of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques while maintaining a patient and respectful attitude toward students.
•Take the lead with any crisis situation, utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques, calming strategies, performing restraints or taking a student to the safety room.
•Wear mobile phone or walkie talkie in order to be contacted at any moment to be of assistance to other staff in dealing with a crisis (during work hours).
•Consistently monitor all classrooms as well as the calming room and safety room, anticipating and identifying situations which may be escalating for the purpose of early intervention.
•Process behavioral intervention data sheets by proofreading forms, ensuring accuracy of documentation, debriefing with staff, obtaining appropriate signatures, and making copies to send home to parent/guardian.
•Submit behavioral intervention forms to LEAs (MCPS, DCPS, charter schools, etc.).
•Collect and analyzes behavioral data to construct behavior plans for each individual student based on CPI crisis development model.

Qualifications Include:
•Bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology or related discipline.
•Minimum of two years work experience with special needs children (i.e. school, camp, counselor, child care work, college practicum experiences, etc).
•CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred. Must be able to physically manage children in CPI's Children's Control Position and Team Control Position.

Work Schedule:

Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
