Job Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VHA, requires professional support services to assist the Deputy Under Secretary of Health (DUSH)-who is accountable for specific health care programs enabling and supporting virtually every aspect of patient care provided to Veterans-- with the development, administration, and management of various emerging initiatives, some of which are legislatively mandated. Aptive serves as the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) strategic partner to transform the country's largest and most complex organizations - with 1,600 care sites across 50 states and a staff of approximately 300,000 employees caring for over 6 million Veterans - into a clinically led, outcome-focused, and technology-enabled organization.
Aptive is seeking a Communications Manager to lead and provide strategic support and solutions to help VHA in developing a communication strategy.

Aptive is seeking a Communications Manager to lead and provide strategic support and solutions to help VHA in developing a communication strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage strategic communications deliverables.
- Identify innovative and creative ways to enhance the delivery of the communications missions.
- Provide oversight for research, planning and execution of project marketing and communications strategy to meet contract requirements.
- Develop communications plans, initiatives, and products that align to client goals.
- Implement communications plans and initiatives and monitor and evaluate effectiveness of campaigns on an ongoing basis.
- Develop, review and edit briefings, articles, speeches and other communication products as needed. Strong writing and editing skills are essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary communications and marketing teams for federal clients
- Exceptional written and verbal communicator with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to translate client goals into actionable communication programs that drive measurable results.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related area of study.
- Ability to obtain a public trust clearance required. Active public trust clearance strongly preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience with organizing and assigning responsibilities to subordinates.
- Adept at reviewing the workload of each team member and assigning them to support high volume programs and projects based on the mission, current speed, volume, and demand of the client.
