Principal Risk & Transaction Testing Associate

As a Principal Associate in A/T, you will be responsible for the Assessments of 3rd party suppliers and leading the Transaction Testing program, including testing processes end to end to ensure compliance to Capital One policies and regulatory adherence. You will work closely with internal team members and external suppliers, identifying process and performance risk. This role is essential in the delivery of risk reduction, policy alignment, and identifying strategic opportunities for growth. Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Having a clear understanding of business strategies, products, services and risk profile
  • Communicate with stakeholders and influence effectively across various levels and work types
  • Drive collaboration between the risk, compliance, operational, and other business functions
  • Identify, assess and communicate risk, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas, providing appropriate documentation of such risks
  • Identify, socialize and implement process improvements to drive issue resolution/risk mitigation activities
  • Balance, prioritize and effectively conduct multiple supplier assessments at a given time and adhere to scheduled deadlines
  • Analyze data and information to proactively identify risks and trends
  • Drive remediation activities with external partners and ensure high transparency on remediation progress
  • Coordinate and lead the quarterly transaction testing program, including partnering with stakeholders to identify scope, establishing timelines, testing process, and grounding and socializing findings
  • In addition to the core responsibilities, the candidate could be asked to provide support to risk management related projects, including audit, automation of work, and process enhancements


The successful candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of the consumer finance industry, finance laws, collection laws, and supporting regulations and disclosures
  • Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills
  • Compliance and/or audit experience
  • Experience interacting with suppliers
  • Strong critical thinking and judgment skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to influence others
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
  • Ability to execute tasks to meet tight deadlines


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office or G Suite
  • At least 2 years of process or risk management experience
  • At least 2 years of audit or testing experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification
  • 3+ years of experience in Process or Risk Management
  • 3+ years of audit or testing experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile environment
