Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Usability Specialist with 4+ years of experience developing and maintaining user-friendly, reliable products. This candidate will ensure that outreach and education channels (including websites, e-learning courses and more) are intuitive and therefore more effective at conveying educational content to key audiences for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Program Integrity (CPI).
The Usability Specialist will be responsible in ensuring all digital content and products are usable and reliable for all users by testing and evaluating all content locations. The individual will also analyze and provide reports with recommendations for improvements.
To be successful in this position, the Usability Specialist will need to have strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.
This is an Associate-level, full-time position is located in Alexandria, VA. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities
- Create usability testing documentation, facilitate discussions, and examine user requirements.
- Analyze user interfaces and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Design and conduct testing for design concepts and user experience.
- Report test findings to the development and UX teams.
- Provide recommendations based on findings to improve interface designs.
- Define and document design standards that drive future interface improvements.
- Anticipate usability problems while developing and reviewing products and applications.
- Research new technologies and current trends to anticipate consumer needs.
- Develop and publish usability guidelines to provide developers with tools in the design process.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience developing intuitive and accessible platforms for outreach and education channels
- Bachelor's degree in a related program.
- Knowledge of the planning, integration, implementation and evaluation of usability engineering and information program activities.
- Broad knowledge of a wide range of IT issues (e.g., accessibility, security), web development methods, requirements, and procedures used government-wide and within the private sector.
- Sound understanding of technical concepts and an opinion in user experiences
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
