Overview
The primary role of this position is to originate quality residential mortgage and equity loan applications through networking and fostering partnerships with outside agents and community partners as well as utilizing the existing pool of Credit Union members. The Mortgage Loan Officer must foster mortgage origination opportunities by identifying, developing, and maintaining qualify network of business relationships that serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Establish relationships with local referral networks
- Counsel potential home buyers and existing home owners while taking complete and accurate applications and obtaining all required documentation
- Originate first and second mortgage loan applications
- Determine member's needs and offer the appropriate mortgage product
- Independently assesses applicant's credit worthiness and qualification and extend pre-approval letters
- Properly price and disclose loan applications
- Coordinate member interaction and interface with all parties involved in the loan transaction
- Make recommendation to members regarding other Credit Union products and services
- Remain informed on trends, changes and developments in the mortgage lending industry including regulatory issues
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred
- Minimum 2 years of professional mortgage experience including 1 year of mortgage sales experience
- SAFE Act licensing and ability to obtain NMLS number is required
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
