The Senior Fundraising and Communications Lead at the Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) Foundation is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing all aspects of the Foundation's fundraising and communications programs.

The Foundation endeavors to achieve these goals by:
  • Engaging employees and members in impactful volunteer activities benefiting youth and their families
  • Providing and increasing access to scholarships to lower barriers to post-secondary educational and training opportunities
  • Raising funds and providing grants to enable and support these activities

The Senior Fundraising and Communications Lead will be responsible for meeting concrete funding goals established by the board of directors and executive director in the budgeting process. We are seeking someone with a passion for, and track record of, raising money for causes in which they believe and has experience and knowledge in annual fund planning and implementation, special events, and major donor fundraising.


  • Creates and implements annual fund plan with concrete fundraising goals
  • Manages CRM including maintaining donor records
  • Develops and maintains prospect portfolio and organizes asks for them
  • Maintains gift records
  • Work with Executive Director and Board to schedule major gift meetings
  • Tracks donations and liaises with accounting to ensure proper tracking of donations
  • Provide monthly progress reports to executive director
  • Write appeals in support of plan
  • Ensures all donors are thanked and acknowledged
  • Accountable for the achievement of an annual revenue target of $475,000 for FY24
  • Manage the Foundation's Drive for the Driven Golf Tournament
  • Manage all logistics for annual golf tournament to support programs
  • Work with NWFCU Vice President & Executive Team to solicit sponsorship support from vendors
  • Engage NWFCU staff to volunteer for tournament
  • Invite sponsors to participate in Foundation programs to deepen their commitment and financial contributions to the Foundation
  • Work with executive director to explore other special event opportunities
  • Plans and Implements Stewardship Initiatives and events
  • Engages, recruits, stewards, trains and manages relationships with volunteers and customers to successfully execute fundraising plans and achieve revenue goals
  • Leads the development of relationships and engagement of target partners, organizations, corporations, and individuals
  • Builds relationships with local businesses, chambers of commerce, etc. to support programs
  • Builds strong collegial partnerships with NWFCU and NW Capital Management staff to support fundraising goals
  • Creates annual communications plan that supports organizational goals
  • Works with NWFCU marketing team and executive director to manage plan and ensure its implementation
  • Writes materials for plan
  • Maintains social media accounts and ensures consistent presence on social media. Meets goals for growth of followers on social media
  • Assists in the coordination of public relations events, including sending invitations, corresponding with community stakeholders, sharing information with local media outlets, reserving venues, and supporting audiovisual needs
  • Integrates all program activities to build relationships and continuity between Foundation programs
  • Develop and Manage fundraising and marketing budget
  • Develop goals and indicators and track progress toward them on a regular basis
  • Provide monthly reports on progress toward goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)


  • Minimum 5 years of experience raising funds through annual fund, special event, and major donors; equivalent experience in sales can be a substitute for fundraising experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Outcome driven; strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work successfully in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to recruit, train and motivate community-based volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines; strong planning and organizational skills
  • Proven relationship building, persuasion and influence skills
  • Strong customer service orientation, with extensive experience in effectively addressing and resolving issues
  • Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals, proactively address issues as they arise and mitigate risks associated to events
  • Proficient in computer-based information systems
  • Self-motivation and the ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Spanish proficiency is preferred
