Large DC law firm looking for an experienced and dynamic senior litigation paralegal to join their team. Position is hybrid - but does have an in-office and on-site requirement.

Duties:
  • Perform all elements of litigation case management, including file management, discovery, and trial activities
  • On a case-specific basis, coordinate and oversee the tasks of more junior paralegals and other support staff as needed on large litigation matters and/or investigations in all phases of litigation from discovery through trial/arbitration.
  • Liaise between case team lawyers and support staff as needed to ensure that case-specific paralegal services are meeting the team's expectations. Proactively identify opportunities to improve systems and procedures, implementing new systems as appropriate.
  • Interact with outside entities (e.g. courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors and other law firms) to gather information or coordinate activities as needed in support of Firm activities, specifically trials and arbitrations.
  • Lead discovery and witness preparation support efforts.
  • Draft, review, and/or analyze routine legal documents as requested by lawyers; conduct legal research under lawyer supervision.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Firm management.


Best candidates will have:
  • Minimum of five years of recent experience as a litigation paralegal in an AmLaw 100 or specialized practice firm.
  • Experience with all stages of litigation from petition to appeal - including intake, discovery, and trial.
  • Experience coordinating trial/arbitration logistics.
  • Experience developing and maintaining processes to collect, store and maintain paper and electronic case files.
  • Strong cite-checking and Bluebooking skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with court and administrative agency filings - including electronic or e-filings.
  • Experience using e-discovery databases (e.g. Relativity, Nuix Discover).
  • Experience using litigation support software for managing files and transcripts (e.g. LiveNote, CaseMap, etc).
  • MS Office proficient - Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat proficiency in a legal setting
  • Must be available for overtime work and travel as needed
  • Degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred
