Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time, versatile data analyst with demonstrated experience providing data science and analytics for large-scale federal programs. This individual will be responsible for evaluating data definitions in current and legacy patient advocacy tracking systems and recommending changes to data definitions for the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) Office of Patient Advocacy (OPA). These efforts will support the modernization of patient advocacy and complaint resolution operations in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience defining key performance indicators (KPIs), utilizing national language processing to identify themes and patterns in feedback and developing reports that incorporate trending. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This is a contingent hire position. This full-time position is currently fully remote. However, the Communications Associate may be expected to travel to Washington, D.C. or other locations in the United States for meetings, events and trainings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a data strategy for a Master Data Plan including a data/analytics ecosystem and tools.
  • Develop reports that incorporate trends across current and legacy data.
  • Implement detailed methodology for defining KPIs to measure complaint resolution and patient advocacy.
  • Create a data ecosystems map showing the data value chain, data flows and independent systems.
  • Provide a methodology and coordinate development/creation for enterprise-wide reporting that incorporates patient advocacy related data from distributed systems across the VA enterprise by using Veterans Support Service Center (VSSC), Power BI and other identified tools.
  • Gather, analyze, fact check and interpret data from various sources.
  • Implement edits provided by clients and other team members effectively and quickly.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Support other duties and assignments as required by OPA.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of related data science and analytics supports.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience using Power BI and other data visualization tools.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government, preferably with VA.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent ability to communicate (written and verbally) across most mediums and settings.
  • Experience preparing and managing integrated project initiatives, performing major decision making, solution development, analysis and evaluation and risk mitigation.
  • Experience with business process and system improvement projects and efforts.
