Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time, versatile management analyst with demonstrated experience providing management consulting and project supporting project management activities and developing corresponding products (e.g., risk and issue trackers, schedules, project management plans) for the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) Office of Patient Advocacy (OPA). These efforts will support the modernization of patient advocacy and complaint resolution operations in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience creating user-friendly, easy-to-understand resources. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This is a contingent hire position. This full-time position is currently fully remote. However, the Communications Associate may be expected to travel to Washington, D.C. or other locations in the United States for meetings, events and trainings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct projects in accordance with Project Management Institute (PMI) and Lean Six Sigma leading practices and processes.
  • Complete necessary project documents and plans within Microsoft (MS) Project Server (a simplified version of Project Professional) to include but not limited to project proposals, project charters, scheduling plans, quality control plans, communication management plans, and project closing documents.
  • Provide comprehensive risk and issue management, proactively providing recommendations for improved service delivery.
  • Gather, analyze, fact check and interpret data from various sources.
  • Implement edits provided by clients and other team members effectively and quickly.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Coordinate project products by collecting and analyzing status inputs, as well as producing reports based on the results.
  • Assist in the implementation of change control procedures to be applied to project products, such as plans, schedules, requirements and technical documents.
  • Provide ad hoc and recurring output products to convey the status of the project in terms of cost, schedule and performance.
  • Support other duties and assignments as required by OPA.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of related project management consulting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government, preferably with VA.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PMI project management principles and content best practices.
  • Project Management Professional Certification or Certified Associate in Project Management.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent ability to communicate (written and verbally) across most mediums and settings.
  • Experience preparing and managing integrated project initiatives, performing major decision making, solution development, analysis and evaluation, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience with business process and system improvement projects and efforts.
