Office Receptionist (Non-Student Wage Position) The George Mason University, Mason Enterprise Center (MEC) in Fairfax is seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and energetic person to assist its office as an Office Receptionist. About the Department: The Mason Enterprise Center is a community-focused business incubator, supporting over 50 growth stage client companies with mentoring and advisory services, education and training, offices and conferencing space. The MEC supports a range of on-site assistance including receptionist, telephone, and mail services. The MEC is located on Eaton Place in Fairfax. Site amenities include free parking. About the Position:Pay rate: $20 per hour; commensurate with education and experience - 20-25 hours per weekTBD Schedule (Mon-Fri): 8:30am-1:00pm; or 1:00pm-5:00pm; or 10:00am-2:00pmSome days may be longer due to events / vacation coverage (paid)Responsibilities:Using impeccable customer service skills, be an outstanding first point of contact on behalf of the MEC team and our clients;Support team and clients with front desk coverage, including coverage of Office Manager duties when needed;Answer phones and direct client calls;Greet and assist clients and visitors;Distribute clients' mail in mailroom;Maintain contact lists in Outlook, Constant Contact, and other applications as necessary;Schedule conference rooms for MEC clients and outside parties;Set and maintain MEC mentors' schedules;Coordinate social media activities with MEC marketing contractor and others as requested;Manage social media accounts and databases (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, others) and post on GMU's event management site;Update website with social media, videos, news articles;Assist with event coordination; andOther duties as requested or assigned.Required Qualifications:Post-secondary coursework including Associates', Bachelor's, Trade, Professional, or online certificate program or equivalent combination of education and experience;Impeccable customer service skills and professional demeanor;Excellent English language communication skills;Ability to multitask;Action oriented with strong attention to detail;Experience with Microsoft Office suite and related applications;Work related experience using social media platforms and tools (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Hootsuite, potentially other applications; video creation a bonus);Some flexibility required in work hours to ensure office coverage (occasional full day and evening hours, reduced hours during GMU's Winter break); andAssertively helpful.Preferred Qualifications:Experience answering multi-line phone;Marketing materials creation (Microsoft Publisher, Canva, Adobe, other tools);Interest or experience in entrepreneurship/business ownership; andAssociates', Bachelor's, or Trade School degree.
