Our client in the non-profit industry is seeking an Accounting (AP/AR) Specialist to support the accounting and financial services regions. The Accounting (AP/AR) Specialist will process deposits and set up batches in the association management system. If this sounds like you, we are looking for someone with experience in finance and accounting.

Candidates must be able to:
  • Process lockbox transactions, prepare electronic batches, update lockbox reconciliations, manage billing and collection processes and posting cash receipts
  • Create daily personify deferred and direct payment batches based on lockbox receipts
  • Create personify deferred and direct payment batches based on live checks received
  • Backup for office manager when manager is out of the office including:
  • Processing mail delivery, distributing it to appropriate staff mailboxes
  • Transporting incoming and outgoing materials, lifting 25-40 lbs
  • Exercises fiscal responsibility
  • Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions

Qualifications:
  • Associates degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or comparable experience
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience with accrual accounting, journal entries, payables, receivables, and reconciliations, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training required
  • Experience working with a global non-profit organization and/or association is highly preferred
  • A demonstrated interest in advancing education in the not-for-profit sector
  • A strong commitment to contributing to an organizational culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion
  • An understanding of and interest in engaging with a broad range of cultures and countries Must have technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency is required.
  • Must have technical knowledge of integrated accounting and financial management, reporting and budgeting systems and association management systems
  • Drive, ability to work in a fast-paced accounting department, and strong project management skills that ensure ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to lead and participate on teams
  • A pro-active and can-do attitude, even when working under pressure and with all levels of staff
  • Experience in an international environment desired
  • Education-related experience a plus
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation
