Manager, Strategic Card Partnerships

This is an exciting time for Capital One Card Partnerships, as we are looking to expand our business aggressively in the partner credit card segment, not only through organic growth in existing programs, but also through acquisitions of new card partners, the focus of this role. In this Manager role, you will lead the management of network relationships related to partnerships and help drive Capital One's new partner acquisition strategy, through creation and implementation of well-managed practices, and lead the translation of that strategy into successful contracting, approval and onboarding of future partners and networks.

You will work with a cross functional team to:
  • Manage relationships with networks for Business Development and partner teams
  • Manage the timeline and process for a program agreement with internal and external teams, strategies and materials for each round of a competitive RFP
  • Work across the organization to contract and onboard future partners, including:
    • Working with internal and external counsel to develop contracts
    • Assist with negotiating key elements of program agreements
    • Manage the internal process for contract reviews
    • Manage the internal due diligence & sign off process
  • Assist with transitioning newly-won business from the business-development team to our vertical business units


Responsibilities:
  • Own relationships with networks, including:
    • Managing Networks RFP process in tandem with the enterprise network team
    • Providing in-depth reporting related to interchange, benefits, product qualifications, and emerging offerings
    • Driving network program addendums and amendments
  • Work with internal and external consultants and counsel to manage legal document creation, comment and review for competitive RFPs
  • Internal and external negotiation of key program agreement elements
  • Manage the end to end process for program agreement reviews across the organization
  • Manage the process to gain internal approval for newly won business

  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence senior level decision makers
  • Ability to make strategically bold decisions in a disciplined, fact-based manner
  • Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate intellectual rigor
  • Organizational skills and effective time management to succeed in a competitive and dynamic environment


Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years experience in Analysis OR at least 3 years experience in Project Management OR at least 3 years experience in Strategy


Preferred Qualifications :
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • 5+ years experience in Analysis
  • 5+ years experience in Project Management
  • 5+ year experience in Strategy
