Tech Risk Management - Retail Risk, Sr. Director

As a Senior Director in Capital One's Retail Bank Division, you will apply your risk management and technology expertise to the company's Technology organization. You will partner across Enterprise Services, Second Line of defense, and Technology teams to develop and support best-in-class industry Tech risk identification and mitigation solutions in a manner that supports innovation and protects our customers, shareholders and associates. Collaboration with various teams will entail implementation of risk and control tools, techniques, and frameworks for the Retail Bank organization, as well as provide Tech risk advisory services to the first line control owners. Your contributions will drive organizational change through effective and proactive risk identification, measurement, analysis and reporting in order to better manage the company's risk in an open and collaborative environment.

This highly collaborative role will work with various stakeholders to deliver value-added risk management services to our Technology partners. You will have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with senior Tech and Business executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. Proficiency in building and enhancing effective Tech risk management programs and frameworks (such as NIST) are key to success in this role. The successful candidate will be a professional who understands Technology risk frameworks, control environments, technology functions, and organizations, with strong analytical, planning, strategic thinking, organizational and first rate communication skills. This role will report to the Head of Tech, Cyber, and Data Risk within the Retail Bank.


- Partner with Retail Bank Tech and Business teams to assess their compliance with the divisional and enterprise level Technology controls

- Assist the Retail Bank Tech Cyber & Data team in delivering against their strategy and service model

- Work with the various partner teams to embed risk consciousness in the Technology related priorities for Retail Bank

- Lead identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting on Tech risks inherent to business and technology concepts

- Apply understanding of Tech controls to proactively mitigate risks to the assigned areas of technology

- Influence control owners and other stakeholders to build consensus on risk mitigation and remediation strategies

- Provide oversight and guidance on key strategic Technology initiatives and asses impact of these initiatives on the Retail Bank control environment

- Identify and implement continual program enhancements based on industry standards and best practices related to Tech risk management

- Design and implement information based internal risk and control governance processes

- Build successful relationships with line of business risk offices and team members to understand impact of Tech risks on critical business processes

- Support Risk Control and Self Assessments (RCSAs)

- Provide guidance and coach junior team members and assign tasks, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or military experience

- At least 10 years experience in Technology Risk, or Technology Internal or External Audit, or a combination

- At least 5 years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or related certifications

- Experience in performing Control Self Assessments (CSAs), or completing assessments against established industry risk frameworks, including: the NIST Framework.

- Experience performing data analysis in support of internal risk assessments and control reviews

- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact with the cyber organization and enterprise stakeholders

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines

- Consulting experience with a Big 4 firm
