Dewberry is seeking an Apprentice Electrician for the Washington, DC area.

The Apprentice electrician will be responsible for running low voltage conduit, fiber, and wire for telecommunication and building controls. Heavy conduit work in occupied buildings. Will work as part of a small team on location, under direction supervision of Journeyman electrician.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand-tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment
• Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
• Will perform all terminations of fiber and wiring to controls
• Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment
• Replaces faulty electrical components, such as relays, switches, breakers, and motor starters
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all background, security, and clearances required to perform the duties of this position

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Professional on-site office and maintenance environment.
• Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for eight hour periods of time.
• Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. This includes completing timesheets and daily work reports.
• Physically able to move about in a maintenance environment to include walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and climbing ladders and stairs.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment.
