Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Project Manager to support the U.S. Space Force, Headquarters in organizational planning, implementation, maturation, and strengthening of the HQ Space Force.
The candidate must have strong writing, communication, and organizational skills to support a DoD client and manage teams. Candidate must thrive in a high pressure, fast paced environment and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
This is a contingent hire position.

Headquarters United States Space Force (HQ USSF) and the Director of Staff (HQSF/DS) are charged with evolving USSF headquarters operations in alignment with the key activities under the initial Work Plan 2.0, including establishment of USSF's overall Operational Test and evaluation (OT&E) mission. The team requires support for organizational planning, implementation, maturation, and strengthening of the HQ Space Force. To further the process of developing HQ USSF, a multi-faceted planning, integration, and management support team continues to implement a multi-phased (multi-year), plan to transition HQ USSF from an initial operating capacity to full operational capacity.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide project management support for USSF projects.
- Serve as primary client point of contact, interacting with senior USSF officers and civilian senior executives.
- Ensure project goals and constraints are met and deliverables are complete.
- Conduct projects in accordance with Project Management Institute (PMI) and OIG project processes.
- Provide input on project process improvement.
- Plan, direct, and coordinates project activities to ensure that established milestones are accomplished on time, within prescribed funding parameters, and in accordance with client business objectives.
- Conduct analytical studies and report project metrics and status to include but not limited to using earned value calculations, cost benefit analysis, performance charts, and quantitative risk assessments.
- Complete necessary project documents and plans within Microsoft (MS) Project Server (a simplified version of Project Professional) to include but not limited to project proposals, project charters, scheduling plans, quality control plans, communication management plans, and project closing documents.
- Develop and maintain effective stakeholder communication and relationships, and escalate problems to management if needed.
- Support other duties and assignments as required by HQ USSF.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Top Secret security clearance
- Ability to work on site in the greater Washington, DC area at the Pentagon or in Crystal City
- 10+ years of related project management experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in Project Management, Organizational Change Management, or similar principles
- Experience managing complex projects and transformation efforts within the Department of Defense or a military service branch preferred, ideally directly with U.S. Space Force
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- MBA or Master's degree in related field
- PMP certification
- 5+ years of direct experience supporting U.S. Space Force and/or the U.S. Air Force in a related capacity
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
- Excellent ability to communicate (written and verbally) across most mediums and settings
- Experience preparing and managing integrated project initiatives, performing major decision making, solution development, analysis and evaluation, and risk mitigation
- Ability to manage, lead and motivate a team of professional staff
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communications skills
- Experience with business process and system improvement projects and efforts
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail; ability to work collaboratively in teams managing multiple projects with complex deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
